Description

I first heard about this game when I noticed a thread on Reddit posted by the developer promoting his app as currently being one of the Top 25 free apps in the App Store. (By the way, be sure to subscribe to This App is Awesome on Reddit here). Investigating further, the comments posted in the thread were almost all positive so I had no excuse not to give this game a try. Geared, created by Bryan Mitchell, is a puzzle game where the objective is to connect the rotating yellow and idle blue gears together using the gears that you have in your inventory.

The controls are simple, just dragging gears in place, however the gameplay becomes more difficult as you advance through the 200 levels. There are in-app purchases that are available, however they are not necessary to complete the game. Thankfully, you are awarded tokens for leveling up and playing the game daily that can then be used to purchase solutions or skip a level if you get really stuck. Overall, Geared is a fun addictive game that is an absolute must get for any device and amazing for a free game to download.

Geared Main Menu

Presentation

Great pocket sized game to play on a mobile device as the actual game does not require a lot of screen space. Graphics are a little outdated, however this does not take away from the fun gameplay.

Sound

No real sound in Geared to review here.

Controls

As stated before, the controls are simple, just point and click where you want the gears to go.

Replay Value

Low – A very fun game to play, however once you beat a level there really is no reason to try and beat it again.
